The second month of the year is here. The Portland area has a cold week forecast, but I’m hoping for no snow. Snow is great to go up to the mountain and see, but I don’t love dealing with it in the city. My goal this month is hopefully getting out into nature at least once for a hike or a ski or who knows what.

Kneecap was one of my favorite movies last year, and it was one I hadn’t really heard of till the end of the year! It’s about a group of Irish rappers that utilize their talents to push for Northern Ireland to recognize the Irish language as an official language. Some compare it to Trainspotting, which I can see where that comes from, but it’s much less interested in the drug use(which there is plenty) and more just the frenetic storytelling.

Between this, and Say Nothing(available on FX/Hulu), I’m having a real moment of being immersed in Irish politics and culture.
