I want to choose community over comfort

“Wise words are like arrows flung at your forehead. What do you do? Why, you duck of course.”
Steven Erikson, House of Chains

I love finding people’s personal parts of the internet. It’s something we’ve lost with the creation of social media platforms, but personal spaces are so moving to find. We need our way to express our personality and creativity that is missing from peoples profiles. If you, dear reader, don’t have a personal website I encourage you to make something anything just a space that is yours!

Some stuff I’ve loved online

Gina Trapani - A great creator/software developer’s personal website

Indie Web Manifesto - A write up in 1997 about the independent web

One of my yearly goals was to start expanding my knowledge and doing actual education, not just consuming youtubes or small tidbits of info. Part of that journey is to work towards a better understanding of math and science (an area I didn’t delve super deep when I was in school) in order to keep my brain sharp.
Enter - Khan Academy which is a free learning platform with dozens of courses available on there. I’m currently working on trigonometry, and it is an in-depth explainer videos and articles of how the math works, and then quizzes you on what you’ve learned. I’m super grateful this exists and at no cost to me is the closest thing I have to free education in this country.
