“You’re acting like you share a secret language all of a sudden.” “Isn’t that always the case with those who’ve read the same books?”

I wrote a new blog post recently about updates on the game I’ve been building. Some fun lessons-learned type stuff, and what I’m hoping to accomplish with this project. Writing about mostly-technical challenges tends to come across as less interesting(IMO) because there’s not much visually to break up the text. I’m hoping to change that soon but having some actual images from this game to accompany an update.
I've also been spending more time in the workshop on a project I started over 3 years ago! I have been working on building my own router table and it is by far the biggest project in my workshop I have ever done. I haven’t been as good about tracking my progress in diary updates, but it might make for a good update soon. Keep an eye out for that update.

White Lotus 2025 - HBO/MAX
I am going to provide my SPOILER FREE thoughts on White Lotus below, but I will be discussing some brief plot details. If you want to remain completely spoiler free no worries! Just come back after you’re done ;-)
White Lotus season 3 recently finished it’s run on MAX and I wanted to post some quick thoughts here. I’ve been a big fan of the White Lotus season ever since it’s original iteration in Hawaii which was filmed during a covid quarantine and released in 2021. Each season takes place in another location of the fictional resort chain White Lotus. The first episode always shows some indication of a death having just happened, but doesn’t reveal who the body is, and then we flash back a week. The whole season follows a group of resort goers as they do rich people things for a week until we find out in the finale who dies.
This seemingly simplistic pattern is a vehicle for Mike White, the series creator and writer, to explore themes of humanity. The first season was exploring money and power, the second season was exploring some aspects of sex and relationship. The third season was asking questions around faith and community.
Season 3 takes place in a White Lotus resort set in coastal Thailand. Similar to the previous seasons it follows different families/couples/individuals as they navigate their own personal journeys. Overall I felt this season was lacking some of the tight writing and plot tension the previous seasons had. I don’t know if it was because this season had more episodes(8 compared to 6 & 7 from S1 and S2) or what, but there were a few mid season episodes that felt as lacking to move the plot forward. White Lotus is as it’s best when every episode is moving each people group towards a growing high-intensity pressure cooker scenario leaving you believing any of the people we see could end up being the body from the opening scene.
I did enjoy a lot of the actual relationship dynamics in season 3, the people were fun and interesting to spend time with and left me wondering how their lives were going to end up. Sadly, the season ended with few of them reflecting on what happened to them during their time at the White Lotus.
Thanks for reading!
